A highly effective approach to improve energy output is cogeneration often referred as (CHP) combined heat and power. Cogeneration intakes the wasted energy from the industrial processes and reuses it for electricity and heat from a single source of fuel. Refineries worldwide have witnessed successful results in energy efficiency when combined with cogeneration. When crude oil is refined into lighter products, the refining facility emits a vast amount of heat and gases. CHP generators uses these wasted heat and industrial gases released and in return produces electricity and steam to meet its demands onsite. Such produced and processed electricity can also be added to the national grid.
